What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Our members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged and care for the sick. We develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research and more. Can I still pay dues?

Please pay your dues by the given deadline. However, if you have recently joined key club, you are still welcome to pay your dues. If it is nearing the end of the year and you haven’t been active in the club, we do not recommend paying until the new year begins. You will have to repay once the year starts during fall.

How many hours do I have to earn?

One must earn 15 service hours by the end of the school year.

What is the difference between club hours and service hours?

Service hours are hours you receive from performing community service. This includes at-home service projects and hopefully in the future, in-person volunteer events. Forms are provided to submit proof of completion, and the time for each project is the amount of hours you receive.

Club hours are hours you receive from participation and being an active member. Club hours can be received from:

  • Attending general meetings every other Monday

  • Attending monthly DCMs hosted by Katelynn, our LTG

  • Participating in fundraisers at local vendors

  • Attending interclubs, regional events, district events, and international events

  • Finding the secret word in the monthly newsletter

    • Submit answer into google form to receive 0.5 club hour

There are always new opportunities to earn club and service hours, so be sure to stay updated!

Can I still join later in the year?

Yes of course! Students are still able to join throughout the year and we are always looking to recruit new members to become a part of our family. However, dues will still have to be paid no matter when you choose to join Key Club (whether during the middle of the school year or towards the end). Remember, paying your dues is one of the most significant aspects of becoming an official member of Key Club and getting your hours counted!

What is the Fall Rally North and District Convention?

Fall Rally North, or FRN, is one of the main events of Key Clubs located in Northern California. Held at Six Flags, the event includes members gathering to celebrate the great progress and funds that each club has donated and contributed to the Pediatric Trauma Program. District Convention, or DCON, is an annual event that is hosted to celebrate great achievements and goals reached throughout the entire year of service from all clubs of the district. The new district executive board is also elected, and members also receive the opportunity to attend fun workshops and meet new, and possibly a lifetime, friends. Each of these events are great opportunities that allow new friendships to blossom, and more memories to be created.

What is a DCM?

DCM stands for Division Council Meeting. It is held once every month, so please be sure to stay connected in our Remind, Instagram, and Google Classroom for more information. At each DCM, we go over every club’s goals and updates. We then discuss past events, new events, District updates, and International Updates. Following the DCM is usually a division team bonding activity filled with lots of fun! You won’t want to miss them!
